Hydraulic torque wrenches are used when bolted joints must be tightened or loosened with high torque levels in a controlled, reproducible and safe manner. Typical application areas include maintenance, assembly and servicing in industrial plants, as well as steel construction, plant engineering, power generation, machinery manufacturing and pipeline construction. Thanks to their hydraulic power transmission, they achieve very high torque outputs with a compact design – even in confined working spaces.
The hydraulic torque wrenches from PLARAD are designed for long service life, robust construction and precise force transmission. Depending on the bolting application, space constraints and torque requirements, different tool designs are available to ensure the optimal solution for each task.
Advantages & application areas
- High torque output with a compact design
- Reproducible and safe bolting operations
- Suitable for confined spaces and hard-to-reach bolted joints
- Durable design for continuous industrial operation
Typical applications can be found in energy and power plant engineering, steel and plant construction, refineries, heavy industry, as well as flange connections and large bolted joints.
Variants of hydraulic torque wrenches
MX-EC – Hydraulic square drive torque wrench
The MX-EC is a robust hydraulic torque wrench designed for versatile applications. It covers a wide torque range and is suitable for a variety of bolting tasks in assembly and maintenance. Its compact design allows operation even in restricted spaces, while the solid construction ensures a long service life.
Thanks to the interchangeable square drive adapter, the MX-EC is particularly flexible in use. It can be combined with a wide range of interchangeable sockets and drive accessories, allowing it to be easily adapted to different bolted joints and application scenarios.
LT – Compact and robust for confined installation spaces
The LT series has been specifically developed for applications with limited available space. Thanks to its short overall length, it is particularly suitable for hard-to-reach bolted joints. Despite its compact dimensions, the LT delivers high torque output and enables controlled operation during assembly and maintenance tasks.
A particularly robust housing design ensures high durability in daily use. It also allows the tool to be safely braced, which supports a stable and controlled bolting process, especially in very confined spaces and challenging working positions.
FSX – Low-profile cassette torque wrench for flange connections
The FSX is a hydraulic cassette torque wrench featuring a particularly low-profile and lightweight design. It is preferably used for flange connections where very limited axial or radial clearance is available. The cassette design enables precise force transmission directly to the nut.
Thanks to its low weight and slim construction, the FSX is ideal for series bolting operations and repetitive flange work in industrial plants.
K-Line – Maximum flexibility for complex bolting applications
The K-Line is a hydraulic torque wrench with interchangeable ring spanners, offering maximum flexibility for customer-specific applications. Open and split ring spanners allow operation even in extremely tight radii and with large engagement depths of the wrench inserts.
With a torque range from 300 to 30,000 Nm, the K-Line combines low weight with high performance. It is used whenever MX-EC or FSX tools reach their limits due to geometry or accessibility constraints.
HPR – Highest torque output for heavy industry
The HPR series is designed for extreme torque requirements of up to 150,000 Nm. Despite its exceptional performance, it features a comparatively compact design, making it suitable even for applications with limited available space.
Typical application areas include heavy industry, power generation, steel construction, and large-scale industrial plants, where very large bolted joints must be tightened safely and in a controlled manner.
High Precision and Repeatability:
Hydraulic torque wrenches allow for very precise control of torque, which is essential for achieving consistent and even preload forces in bolted joints. This is crucial for the durability and reliability of connections, such as in the oil and gas industry, mechanical engineering, or power generation.
High Performance at Large Torques:
They provide significantly higher torque compared to other bolting tools, making them ideal for large-diameter bolts or high-tension connections. Hydraulic systems are often necessary to achieve the required preload forces in such large-scale applications.
Increased Safety:
With controlled and even application of torque, the risk of over-torquing or damaging the joint is minimized. This reduces the likelihood of bolt failures or material fatigue, enhancing worker safety and operational reliability.
